Cancer Care Clinical Trials

MGH Clinical Trials
As part of the largest hospital-based research program in the United States, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center is known worldwide for advances in cancer care. With clinical research ongoing in more than 15 Disease Centers, and basic research underway through the Center for Cancer Research and Departmental Research programs, the opportunity for our patients to be eligible for treatment in clinical trials is another advantage of our relationship with MGH Cancer Center.

SNHHS Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies in which people help doctors find ways to improve health and cancer care. Each study tries to answer scientific questions and to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, or treat cancer. A clinical trial is one of the final stages of a long and careful cancer research process. Studies are done with cancer patients to find out whether promising approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are safe and effective.

Foundation Hematology/Oncology Clinical Trials has just celebrated the end of its first successful year. We are associated with cooperative groups such as Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB), Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU) and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and also have an association with Massachusetts General Hospital.

We currently have six Phase III academic trials open, four of which are actively enrolling. Four of the trials are for breast cancer (two recruiting), one for non-small cell lung cancer and one for metastatic colon cancer. We continue to search for trials at this time in both Oncology and Hematology.
