Electrophysiology studies are used to assess potentially serious electrical conduction abnormalities in your heart that can cause life threatening arrhythmias. These studies are sometimes performed before you receive a cardiac device. Catheter-based ablation therapies treat certain arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation.
