Concussions account for approximately nine percent of all youth sports injuries. The Center for Disease Control estimates that in the United States alone, 300,000 sports-related concussions occur throughout all age groups each year. Although most people associate concussions with contact sports, such as football and hockey, concussions also occur in the not-so-obvious sports, too. Today a simple computer test called ImPACT™ (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) can provide a baseline tool for concussion management. Athletes and active individuals age 11 and up are encouraged to take this baseline concussion test.
