Stroke
Stroke patients have the best chance of recovery if they receive treatment within three hours of first experiencing symptoms. F.A.S.T. (see sidebar to the right) action on your part, combined with the highly skilled stroke team and the TeleStroke program available at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, can make a big difference in stroke recovery.
What is TeleStroke and How Does it Work?
The Medical Center launched the TeleStroke Program in 2009. TeleStroke gives our physicians and patients ready access to world-renowned stroke specialists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Using TeleStroke technology, our Emergency Department physicians can transmit CT images and other test results directly to specialists at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Patients may also be examined via video conferencing by an MGH acute stroke neurologist, when needed. The result: Stroke patients get a second expert opinion, if needed, and can start the most effective treatment plan as quickly as possible.
Working closely with renowned stroke specialists at MGH, our physicians provide you with a higher level of stroke care.
